It’s very busy this time of year, with all the snow melt.
When they said there would be a “light dusting” of snow in The Cairngorms we never could have anticipated what happened over the first weekend of February. Picking up Rachel and Thomas from the airport was precarious — thank goodness for the Land Rover — though even that wouldn’t make it up Allargue Hill, so we had to walk the last part in knee-deep snow and go dig it out the next day!
The Corgarff Games take place mid-June, with the pipe band, terrier racing, whisky…
It’s a beautiful time of year to be up with the heather starting to come out and the rhododendrons in full bloom.

It’s amazing looking back through the photographs on this blog, and seeing how much the seasons vary from year to year. In 2015, Easter fell on the first weekend of April — there was toad spawn, spring flowers and a picnic by the riverside. As the (second) ‘Beast from the East’ sweeps in, it’s funny to think that April is just a couple of weeks away.
