On Thursday 20th November we were delighted that Neil Brown, the Allargue Gamekeeper, won joint gold at the annual Purdey awards for Game and Conservation.
The award recognised a continuing project that we embarked on in 2004, to return 500 acres of dense, mature conifers to heather. Removing the trees has encouraged biodiversity. Black grouse are already flourishing, and we hope that the restructured woodland of mixed native species will provide a great habitat for more and varied wildlife in years to come.
